Client Testimonials

“Marty is a beast. His production skills rival anyone else in the world. I can say these things because for the better part of a decade I’ve heard the stuff that comes out of SLR Studios. As a PD I hear a lot of independent unknown music, people are constantly marketing themselves to me, and most of it is not good. But it doesn’t matter what the genre or how unknown the artist is, as soon as I hear “marty” “bak”, “SLR” or any combination of the three, I’m going to listen and take it seriously. We run some local music he produces and it has identical production values to stuff like Maroon 5 or OneRepublic or anything Max Martin could offer.

~ Luke Nugent, Program Director, CHYR-FM Windsor ON

“The quality of Martin Bak’s production work is truly world-class. What impresses me most about Martin is his keen ear for not only audio quality, but his ability to produce many different genres of music; from rap to modern rock to adult pop and everything in between. Martin is able to bring out the best in the artists he works with. Every time. In my former role as VP of A&R at EMI Music Canada, I had the opportunity to work with a number of legendary producers. SLR Studios, with Martin at the helm, are world-class, right here in Windsor!”

~ Tim Trombley, Former VP of A&R at EMI Music Canada

“I have worked with a lot of producers and recording studios during my career in radio, and Marty Bak at SLR studios stands head and shoulders over most, not only in demonstrated in SLR’s quality of sound, but also in Marty’s ability to function as a creative producer to a lot of up and coming artist. His intellect is matched by his ability to communicate clearly, and to project an open, friendly persona to which helps bring out the best in them as a musician.”

~ Jay Hudson, 89X CIMX Detroit & Windsor

“Marty Bak has great audio engineering skills to be sure, but most importantly he combines those skills with a highly positive and encouraging manner in the studio. I can personally attest to the latter, as I’ve always left a session at SLR feeling that the best I could offer on a take was successfully captured, and that’s all thanks to Marty’s ability to draw that out of me.”

~ Mr. Chill, Big Sugar

“I’ve been fortunate enough to record and some of the best studios in the world… SLR ranks right up there when it comes to atmosphere, and results. Working with Marty is a world-class experience as an engineer, and producer, the only difference is you don’t pay Big city prices. If you want amazing results go to SLR, but book well in advance…He’s that good!”

~ Jeff Burrows, Drummer for The Tea Party & Crash Karma
